Lykoi

The Lykoi cat, also known as the "werewolf cat," is a rare and striking breed that has gained popularity in recent years due to its unique appearance. Lykoi cats are known for their distinctive black fur, which is often accompanied by white markings on the face, chest, and belly.

The Lykoi cat breed was first developed in 2010 by Johnny Gobble, a breeder from Tennessee. Gobble bred a black domestic shorthair cat with a feral cat that carried a recessive gene responsible for their unusual appearance. The resulting kittens had a mix of black and white fur, and some exhibited a sparse coat that gave them a "werewolf-like" appearance.

The Lykoi breed was officially recognized by The International Cat Association (TICA) in 2017, and it remains a relatively rare breed.
